The 2025 Oscars ceremony AKA the 97th Academy Awards is set to be the crowning jewel of the awards season.
Viewers have already been able to enjoy potential nominees. With buzzy films like Timothée Chalamet’s A Complete Unknown and Emilia Pérez starring Selena Gomez gracing screens across the country, awards chatter is heating up.

Thankfully, movie fans won’t have to wait long to find out which movies are in the running for 2025 Oscars statues, with shortlisted films set to be announced on 17 January. In fact, the Academy has already released a number of shortlisted projects for 10 key categories including Documentary Feature Film and Original Score.

How to watch the 2025 Oscars

The 97th Academy Awards are set to take place on Sunday 2 March 2025. The ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre and start at 7pm ET/4pm PT. The Oscars have used this venue for the past 24 years.

The show itself will air live on ABC. The move continues a long-standing partnership between the Academy and the channel, with the Oscars appearing on ABC for the past 50 years.
However, if you don’t have access to a TV, the show will also be available to watch live via ABC.com. As if this wasn’t enough, for the first year ever the Oscars will be available to watch live on Hulu alongside ABC.com.
If you miss the show live, subscribers to the digital streamer can re-watch on-demand via Hulu from the day after the event.
Who is hosting the 97th Academy Awards?

Former Late Nite host Conan O’Brien will act as host for the 2025 Oscars. The news was confirmed on 15 November 2024.
“America demanded it, and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars,” joked O’Brien, confirming the news online.
O’Brien takes over from his fellow Late Nite host Jimmy Kimmel who delivered his fourth hosting stint in 2024. Kimmel has previously hosted the show in 2023, 2018 and 2017.
