He is the founder and CEO of this renowned gaming studio, which dropped iconic games for fans, including: Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Resistance Series, and the list goes on.
Price’s departure marks the end of an era as the studio celebrates its 30-year anniversary. Ted Price wrote a heartfelt blog and shared this news while penning down his thoughts.
He began by mentioning the difficulties the team went through and appreciated how together it overcame the massive challenges. Then he moved towards announcing the news of his retirement,
“Therefore, last week, I felt comfortable announcing to the Insomniac team that after having been incredibly fortunate to enjoy such a fulfilling career in games, I’ll be retiring from the industry at the end of March. Today, I’m sharing this news more broadly.”
He confirmed that he will step down at the end of March, retiring from both Insomniac Games and the gaming industry altogether. Price revealed that he made this decision last year, mentioning,
“For me, after over 30 years of leading Insomniac, I felt it was simply time to step aside and let others pave the way for our team.”
New Leadership to Shape Insomniac’s Future
He also highlighted working with the team to create a new leadership that will take care of the company; he stated,
“During the past year, I had the opportunity to work with the senior leadership team at Insomniac to create a succession plan that I know will provide the continuity, stability, and strong leadership necessary to deliver more of what our fans cherish over the next several decades.”
The studio will now be under the leadership of three new Co-Studio heads: Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang. He further stated that the studio needed leadership who is aware of the studio and its culture, and these newly elected leaders are well aware of it.
“Finally, I’m confident that under the combined leadership of Chad, Jen, and Ryan, Insomniac will continue to deliver the industry-defining games that players have come to expect from us…while making a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives for decades to come.”
Although Ted is bidding farewell, the studio will continue to grow and is already working on the big projects. Fans and the gaming community are surely going to miss Ted and are wishing more success to the company.
