Drake has been found to be the most profane artist of all time, according to new research.

Profanity in songs has been an issue for decades now – witness the ‘parental advisory’ stickers that emerged in the 1980s – but have you ever wondered who was the sweariest? Wonder no more.

Language experts at Preply analysed 3,632 songs spanning multiple genres and decades by top Billboard 100 artists to discover who used the most explicit language in their music. While Eminem has been long known for giving the people who make radio edits of songs nightmares, it turns out Drake is now the biggest culprit.

Preply found that Drake has used 2,289 curse words in his music to date, which is an average of one curse word in every 45 lyrics uttered. Drake’s most used curse word, “sh*t” has 545 uses alone.

Being the most foul-mouthed artist in the Billboard Top 100, it comes as no surprise that an average of 5,300 Google searches are made each month for “clean Drake songs”.

Eminem is now the second most profane artist in the music industry, with Preply reporting a total of 1,850 curse words in his songs, that’s one curse word in every 50.

Fellow rapper J. Cole ranked third on the list, with 1,632 curse words, although as his back catalogue isn’t as big as Eminem or Drake, his average is just one curse word in every 31.

Other artists that made the sweary top 10 include Nicki Minaj (1,612 curse words, average of 1 curse word in every 30 uttered), Kendrick Lamar (1,281, 1 in 39), Kanye West (1,110, 1 in 58), DJ Khaled (948, 1 in 36), Future (939, 1 in 26), Tyler The Creator (600, 1 in 25), Lil Uzi Vert (552, 1 in 33).
