- EA confirms the next Battlefield launches on April 16, 2025
- Battlefield Labs introduced to test multiplayer features
- Four EA studios are developing the game, including DICE & Motive

During the next fiscal year 2026, which will run from April 1st, 2025, to March 31st, 2026, Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed the release of the next installment of Battlefield. The launch is scheduled for April 16th, 2025.
Battlefield Returns: A New Era Begins
The first official look at the new Battlefield game is released this week while introducing the Battlefield Labs, the testing program that aims to assist the developers before launching the entire game.
Details are still limited, but last year, EA confirmed the return of the long-standing multiplayer shooter series to a modern setting for its next installment. More streamlined maps and featuring character classes signal a return to a familiar formula after the experimental changes in 2021’s Battlefield 2042, which received a mixed reception.
Additionally, Battlefield is expected to include a free-to-play Battle Royale mode developed by Ripple Effect. EA introduced Battlefield Studios: the four teams developing the next Battlefield installment.
These include the series’ primary developer, DICE, based in Stockholm, Sweden; Motive, known for the Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons (and currently working on an Iron Man game); Ripple Effect, a U.S.-based studio formerly known as DICE LA; and Criterion.
Earlier this week, EA introduced Battlefield Labs, a new community test environment designed to evaluate the game before its official launch. Currently, Battlefield Labs appears to be centered on the game’s multiplayer experience.
Battlefield Labs: Shaping the Future of Warfare
As stated by the EA, the Battlefield Studio teams have entered a crucial phase in the developmental cycle. Before the launch, EA seeks players’ feedback to determine improvements and priorities.
For this purpose, Battlefield Labs is serving as a testing ground for various features, though not everything encountered by players will be finalized. Participants need to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before they are granted access.
The company aims to deliver a more fine and player-driven experience, as the game is expected to have a significant impact. EA has launched a program that is designed to involve the player community in its developmental process.
The testing will be limited to a few participants in North America and Europe, but EA has plans to expand it globally later. The launching platforms and the official name for the new Battlefield have not been announced yet by EA.
As the release date draws near, players are awaiting more information and looking forward to experiencing the latest installment in the Battlefield franchise.
