Tonight’s game could be a history-maker as the Kansas City Chiefs could become the first team to win the Super Bowl three times in a row. They’ll face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in an effort to claim the title.
The Eagles last won the Super Bowl in 2018 and previously faced the Chiefs in 2023.
The final game of the NFL calendar regularly draws over 100m television viewers in the United States alone (the Kansas City Chiefs victory over the San Francisco 49ers drew an audience of 123m, last year) with more than 50m more people watching outside of the US.
For those who want to be there in person, grabbing tickets is a rather expensive endeavour.
The cheapest resale seats at the time of writing will set you back $5,900 for a terrace seat in the end zone. However, if you feel like being as close to the action as possible, and perhaps if you’ve recently had a lottery win, you can fork out $20,4000 for a ticket right on the Superdome sideline.
If the football’s not your thing, the Super Bowl can still be a source of entertainment. The halftime show is one of the most high profile gigs in music and this year, it’s Kendrick Lamar’s turn to entertain millions in the halftime show.
Of course, an event this big often stretches on for a fair amount of time. But how long will the Super Bowl last?
How long does the Super Bowl go on for?

The length of the game can depend on various factors. Although the game is split into 15-minute quarters, the clock often stops during the on-field play and there are also commercial breaks.
If the scores are tied at the end of the 60 minutes, the game will go to 15 minutes of overtime. Unlike usual NFL games, the Super Bowl won’t end in a draw so the game could go through several overtime periods until a team comes out on top.
Often, the entire event can last three to four hours.
Meanwhile, half-time lasts about half an hour. Within that, the big-name halftime show usually goes on for 15 minutes.
