- Lundgren played He-Man in 1987 movie
- Fans are piecing clues together and it leads to a cameo
- Could Lundgren be playing King Grayskull?

In 1987, actor Dolph Lundgren took on the lead role of He-Man in Masters of the Universe, a movie from Cannon Films. The film was based on the 1983 animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
Nearly 40 years later, Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films are producing a new live-action reboot of the ’80s favorite, with Nicholas Galitzine cast as Prince Adam of Eternia, aka He-Man.
With most of the cast seemingly announced for the new blockbuster, it was no surprise to see Lundgren absent from the list. After all, this is going to be a fresh take on the most powerful man in the universe and Lundgren, who is now 67, is essentially too old to play He-Man.

However, a recent post on social media has fans wondering if the Swedish actor is hinting at some cameo action in the new movie.
Did Lundgren tease a Masters of the Universe cameo?
It appears so. Lundgren took to social media recently to reveal he was working on a secret project in London. In the Instagram post he is seen posing with a cocktail in hand with a caption that reads “In London for my secret project – relaxing with a frozen Direct Martini from the master Salvatore Calabrese at Velvet Bar. Cheers! 🍸”.
With on-set images from the film’s production in London already circulating, fans have been quick to piece together the clues.
In a separate Instagram post just a week before his London visit, Lundgren is seen with a big grin across his face while being fitted for a wig. The caption reads “Good ol’ fashioned wig fitting. For a secret project. Very flattering 😏”, leading to more speculation that he’s gearing up for a Masters of the Universe appearance.
Who could Lundgren be playing?
He-Man fans are convinced that Lundgren is going to play the legendary character, King Grayskull – an ancestor of He-Man. Grayskull was a heroic warrior and the original wielder of the Power Sword, often considered the original He-Man in Masters of the Universe lore.
This is all just speculation, but it’s worth noting that the King Grayskull seen in the 2002 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon looks exactly like an older He-Man with very long hair. So, who better than Lundgren?
The new Masters of the Universe live-action will be hitting theaters on 5 June, 2026.
