What happened to Murray Barlett’s character Armand on the first season of The White Lotus?
*Warning spoilers for The White Lotus follow below*
Bartlett was ruled out as coming back for any more chaos at the luxury resort chain. Unfortunately, it wasn’t due to a busy schedule but rather because his character was revealed to be in the body bag in its opening scene.
As the first season went on, the previously sober Armand spiralled after finding a stash of drugs. Following his last hurrah, his petty back-and-forth face with Lacey’s entitled rich boy Shane met a fatal end. He died after Shane mistakes him for an intruder into his newly acquired Pineapple Suite and stabs him, killing him.

However, it will be remembered in television history alone for Armand’s decision to defecate in Shane’s suitcase as one act of revenge.
Of the scene, Barlett told The Guardian in 2021, “I was a little horrified when I first saw it. Watching yourself explicitly taking a s*** on TV is fairly confrontational. But I soon got over it, because it’s such an epic moment.”
