In case you didn’t realise, people everywhere are amped six ways from the weekend for the upcoming second season of The Last Of Us. In fact, people are so hyped, they have watched the recently released trailer for the new season OVER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY EIGHT MILLION TIMES IN JUST THREE DAYS.

Not a typo. People have really been going hog wild for the return of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey tearing through undead fungus monsters as they trek across a dystopian, spore infested United States.

The trailer for the new season was officially released at SXSW in Austin, Texas, earlier this week. And in just three days it is already HBO and Max’s most watched trailer with an increase of 160% on previous trailers for the show, according to HBO.

In the new trailer, we rejoin Joel (Pascal) and Ellie (Ramsey) five years after the events of the first season. The unlikely duo have been living in Jackson, having finally found a semblance of peace.

However, from the looks of the explosion heavy, flamethrower filled new trailer, that relief is getting ripped away. The pair have to contend with more Cordyceps nightmares and militant groups. At the trailer’s conclusion, we see an emotional conversation in which Ellie questions how honest Joel has been with her, their relationship now seemingly strained.

Accolades poured in for the debut season of the video game crossover hit, including five Primetime Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nominations. Alongside Pascal and Ramsey will be a slew of new characters for season two, with Variety reporting that Emmy winner Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos, Bad Boys), Alanna Ubach (Venom: The Last Dance, In Our Blood), Ben Ahlers (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Hettienne Park (Hannibal), Robert John Burke (Boston Strangler, Thinner) and Noah Lamanna (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) are set to appear in the second season. The great Catherine O’Hara had already been confirmed to be playing Gail a few months ago.

The second season of The Last Of Us premieres on HBO on April 13.
