Happy Gilmore 2 will drop onto Netflix on 25 July 2025 – so fans don’t have to wait too long before they’ll be reunited with their comedy hero.

The news was confirmed in late March 2025 alongside the debut of the film’s first teaser trailer. The movie comes more than two decades after the first instalment which was released in 1996.

Before this release date information was confirmed, Sandler had teased Happy’s return. Over on his Instagram, he posted a picture of a familiar looking jersey with the caption “”It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun.”

Your move, McGavin.

Who is starring in the sequel?

McDonald and Stiller aren’t the only returning faces in Happy Gilmore 2.

Julie Bowen is back as Happy’s partner Virginia Venit, with Sandler regulars Allen Covert and Dennis Dugan returning as Otto and Doug.

Meanwhile, the movie is confirmed to star a number of newcomers from the world of music and sports. In addition to Bad Bunny, happy will be joined by a host of professional golfers including Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Scottie Scheffler, Will Zalatoris and Keegan Bradley to name just a few.

As if that wasn’t enough, Eminem is set to make a cameo appearance alongside Taylor Swift’s football star hubby Travis Kelce.
