Jason Isaacs is currently in The White Lotus mode but with the Harry Potter TV show on the horizon, fans haven’t forgotten his turn as evil wizard Lucius Malfoy.
The 61-year-old played father to Tom Felton’s blonde brat Draco Malfoy for eight movies between 2001 and 2011. In doing so, he cementing the role in many fans’ minds.

Cut to 2025 and a Harry Potter TV show is in the works with a new creative team and cast.
Big names have already been confirmed, with John Lithgow hopping aboard the Hogwarts Express as magical headteacher Albus Dumbledore.

While doing the press rounds for his ongoing stint as a stressed dad trapped in a relaxing holiday in The White Lotus season three, Isaacs chimed in on who he’d like to inherit his Harry Potter role.
Who will play Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter TV show?
It hasn’t yet been announced who might play Lucious Malfoy in the Harry Potter TV show but Isaacs has offered his thoughts.
“Meryl Streep,” said Isaacs when asked by Variety who he’d like to cast as Lucius Malfoy if he was in charge.
“She can do anything, that woman. There’s literally no limit to what she can do.”

The same outlet also asked if he had any advice for any star about to step into this magical world for the first time. However, Isaacs was insistent that the stars who are already on board have it covered.
“I wouldn’t have any advice at all. Why would I bother? I know some of the people they’re casting already. They’re brilliant actors,” said Isaacs. “It’s going to be fantastic, and the last thing they need is advice from some old fart like me.”
Who else has been cast in the Harry Potter TV series?
The casting process for the Harry Potter TV show is still ongoing, with actors for its leads Harry, Ron and Hermoine yet to be announced.
In addition to Lithgow, the show has started to unveil other cast members including Black Mirror star Paapa Essiedu. According to many reports, Essiedu is in line to play dual-sided wizard and fan-favourite Severus Snape.
Meanwhile, English star Janet McTeer was circling the role of Minerva McGonagall, one of Dumbledore’s closest allies in the fight against the evil Voldemort.
