- Stephen Graham will play Springsteen’s father in new biopic
- Deliver Me From Nowhere will be released later this year
- Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong will also star

As if Stephen Graham hadn’t undergone enough emotional exhaustion with his role as Eddie Miller in new Netflix crime-drama Adolescence, the British actor has also been reduced to tears by none other than Bruce Springsteen.
Although the tears shed by the multiple time BAFTA nominee were not ones of sadness or sorrow, but rather because The Boss sent him a ‘beautiful’ text during the production of upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.

While Graham is currently receiving universal acclaim for his heartbreaking performance as the father of a teenager arrested for murder in Netflix’s Adolescence, he plays a very different fatherly role in the Springsteen biopic.
‘Beautiful’ text left Stephen Graham in tears
Talking to Scottish TV and radio presenter Edith Bowman on her Soundtracking podcast, Graham discussed his part as Springsteen’s father, Douglas. Springsteen is believed to have had a fraught relationship with his father, which is explored during the film, set during the recording of Springsteen’s seminal Nebraska album in 1982.
Graham explained he had to wear prosthetics for the part and they almost caused him to miss a flight. Which is when he received his text from The Boss.
“I’m racing to get to the airport,” said Graham, per The Guardian, “and I got this text, and it was so beautiful. It just said, ‘Better than any award that I could ever receive in my life’. He’s an icon. He’s a hero.”
Graham continued, “He’s a working-class hero. He’s an icon to thousands, to millions. And his text just said, ‘Thank you so much. You know, my father passed away a while ago and I felt like I saw him today and thank you for giving me that memory.’
“I was crying reading the text, do you know what I mean? Oh mate, it was beautiful. You couldn’t ask for anything more, you know, to share that with someone was gorgeous. He’s a lovely man.”
Who Else is in Deliver Me From Nowhere?
Graham will star alongside Emmy winning duo Jeremy Allen White, who will play Springsteen, and Jeremy Strong, who plays Springsteen’s manager and producer Jon Landau.

Deliver Me From Nowhere will be released in American cinemas in 2025 but an exact release date has yet to be revealed. The film will arrive in the United Kingdom in 2025 too but it’s currently unclear whether it will mirror its Stateside release schedule.
Production for the film started in October 2024, with White shooting scenes in Springsteen’s home state of New Jersey. Additional scenes have also been shot in New York and Los Angeles.
