Taylor Swift is being a charitable queen again and has made a huge donation to a children’s charity. The singer, 35, is known for her philanthropy. At the 2025 Grammys, Swift tipped Grammys staff after the show quietly, although the interaction was caught on camera. She also donated to the recent LA wildfires and donated $5 million to efforts to repair the damage after hurricanes Helene and Milton in October 2024.

Her consistent effort towards charity has not surprised fans, but actress Ellen Pompeo saying Swift donated to her requested charity without knowing her well has. Pompeo has recently starred in the drama series Good American Family.
She acknowledged she and Swift knew each other for “all about 20 minutes” before Swift agreed to donate. In 2014, the 55-year-old made a cameo in Swift’s music video for her hit song Bad Blood.

What did Ellen Pompeo say about the charity donation?

Pompeo appeared on the latest episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. She reflected on the experience in Swift’s Bad Blood video.
Hudson asked her about her cameo in Swift’s 2014 music video. On the video, she said, “Actually, I forgot about Taylor, so that’s true, I do get a lot of points for that.”
The points she was referring to were from her two daughters.
Speaking about Swift, she said, “And Taylor is such a good girl, and I didn’t know her and she invited me to be in the video and I thought, ‘Oh, that would be fun.’ ”
In the music video, she played Luna.
The actress continued, saying she and her husband, Chris Ivery, volunteer for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and Swift showed an interest in that.
She spoke about a programme where music is recorded for babies in the NICU. For the parents who cannot stay with their sick children all day, the programme helps them record their voices singing nursery rhymes or telling stories.
The Grey’s Anatomy star said of the donation: “So I just got up the hutzpah and asked Taylor, ‘Could you write me a big old check for Children’s?’ And she knew me all but 20 minutes and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye.”

Yes, the 35-year-old has been vocal about her love of Pompeo’s medical drama show. Her Scottish fold cat, Meredith, is named after Pompeo’s character in the show, Meredith Grey. In the past, she has praised the show in interviews and clips.
In one interview, a young Swift said of Grey’s: “That’s my show! I couldn’t live without it, I’m obsessed.”
She continued, “And having a song on Grey’s Anatomy was basically the best thing ever. I love Grey’s Anatomy because I think it’s the best example of dry, sarcastic humor I’ve ever seen mixed with drama. Because in life, there’s humor and there’s drama.”
A young Swift praised the show, “I think Grey’s Anatomy has a great balance of real emotions slash dry humor.”
