The Weeknd has had many stars in his projects, and his new film, Hurry Up Tomorrow, has even more! The film has a star-studded cast, from Jenna Ortega to Barry Keoghan. Hurry Up Tomorrow is about a musician with insomnia, who embarks on a journey with an eerie stranger to discover things about himself.

It is related to the album of the same name, released in January 2025.

On 1 April, another trailer for the film premiered at CinemaCon. CinemaCon is a corporate convention for the film and theatre industry. He did a surprise performance at Las Vegas staple venue Caesar’s Palace to promote the film.

Historically, The Weeknd’s projects have not been received well critically. His short-lived HBO drama starring Lily-Rose Depp was torn to shreds by critics and was canceled after one season. Also attached to the show was Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. However, the singer has the star power to get big names in his projects, and here are the best cameos.

Ranking Celebrities in projects by The Weeknd

1. Lily-Rose Depp – The Idol (2023)

Daughter of Johnny Depp, Lily-Rose Depp, starred in the HBO show in 2023. Depp was praised for her leading role as struggling pop star Jocelyn. She is the shining star of The Weeknd’s projects because she is magnetic. Her performance of the song for the show One Of Your Girls became a TikTok hit and embodied the essence of what a pop star is.

Despite The Idol receiving unfavorable reviews, Depp’s performance and ability to pull off a multi-layered depiction of a famous young woman were flawless.

2. Jenna Ortega, Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025)

Ortega is a certified horror girl after starring in two Scream films, and she will blow everyone out of the water with her upcoming role in Hurry Up Tomorrow. Although the film isn’t out until 16 May, based on the trailers alone, we know she will deliver a stellar performance.

In the movie, Ortega plays Anima, the stranger, The Weeknd becomes entangled with. The singer is playing himself in the film.

Anima is established as manipulative and deeply connected to the singer, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out on-screen and whether Ortega will be back to her horror roots.

3. Jung Ho-yeon – Out Of Time (2022)

Korean actress Jung Ho-yeon made a splash when she starred in the music video for Out of Time in 2022. The actress and model starred in season one of Squid Game in 2021 as Kang Sae-byeok, a North Korean defector.

In happier news, she captures the essence of disco and feel-good music in this music video as she does karaoke with the singer.

Additionally, Ho-yeon blends into the wholesome part of the music video and provides fans with a reflection on a previous happy relationship, which is important to the symbolism in the video. Towards the end, the horrors come to the surface, champagne turning to blood, and everything goes awry. Watch it to see what we mean!

4. Anitta – São Paulo (2025)

The video for São Paulo is traumatizing to say the least, and Brazilian singer Anitta did a fantastic job with the artistic direction. In the video for the song, which she collaborated on with The Weekend, she is pregnant with a talking baby bump.

The creepy part is when the bump starts singing the lyrics to the song. The artistic direction is strange, yet Anitta manages to lean into the horror and cultish vibes and, with beauty, can make the video creepy and interesting.

Her movements become doll-like and lifeless as she moves close to the camera, adding to the horror factor.

5. Rachel Sennott, The Idol (2023)

Rachel Sennott, best known for Shiva Baby, had a fantastic supporting role in The Idol. Although she isn’t one of the most famous of the cast, she delivered a stellar performance. Sennott played Joceyln’s best friend and personal assistant, Leia.

In The Idol, Sennott delivered a nuanced performance of a woman stuck between friendship and professionalism. Leia struggles to see Jocelyn become involved with Tedros, the Weeknd’s character.

Sennott’s performance was widely praised and was one of the few appreciated by audiences, making it worthy of our list.

Does the Weeknd have any other projects?

At the moment, he has no other upcoming film or TV projects. Stay tuned for updates on all things TV and film!
