Today marks a historical day, as pop icon Katy Perry is heading to space. The singer, 40, is joining an all-female crew on the Blue Origin rocket. Perry is flying as part of Amazon creator Jeff Bezos’s programme.

When the mission was first announced in February 2025, Perry gave a statement that read, “If you had told me I’d be part of the first all-female crew in space, I would have believed you. Nothing was beyond my imagination as a child.”

However, this is not some profound mission to explore the great beyond. No, the mission with the all-female crew on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket is only expected to last 11 minutes.

Unbelievably, the leader of the mission is Bezos’ fiancée, leading her first mission. Primarily, the reason for the mission is to “create a lasting impact that will inspire generations”.

On April 14, Perry and the all-female crew will blast off.

Joining the singer is Sanchez, CBS Mornings presenter Gayle King, activist Amanda Nguyen, movie producer Kerianne Flynn, and former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe.

Next, we will delve into all the details of Perry’s voyage, including what time you can catch Perry zooming.

The New Shepard rocket will launch at 8.30 am Central Daylight Time and 13:30 13:30 UTC. Whether it will take off exactly at that time remains to be seen. As the rocket is launching from its West Texas launch site, times across the country will be different.

Remarkably, Perry’s mission is the first all-female space mission in 60 years. Previously, the mission was when Soviet Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova had a solo mission into space where she travelled on Vostok 6.

Did she have training?

Yes, according to some sources, passengers aboard the rocket go through training two days before they take off. This includes training in emergency procedures, safety measures, information about zero gravity, and physical training.

Where can we watch Katy Perry in space?

Jeff Bezos’ company, Blue Origin, will stream coverage of the mission on X starting at 8 a.m. ET. If you have Paramount+, their broadcast kicks off an hour earlier at 7 a.m. Fans of King can also tune into CBS from 9 a.m. for coverage focused on her journey.

Stay tuned for updates on Perry’s adventure!
