In addition to its array of alien skulls sending franchise fans wild, this new juvenile Predator – or Yautja, as its species is known – looks set to embark on a perilous mission.

Joining him is a human heroine… at least, we think she’s human. Together, they’ll have to join forces to take down a mutual foe.

Director Dan Trachtenberg returns to helm this Prey sequel after the surprise success of his first foray into the world of masked space hunters.

Details are largely few and far between but read on to discover everything we know so far about the Predator: Badlands cast.

So far, the Predator: Badlands cast is pretty sparse with just two names confirmed to star in Trachtenberg’s Prey sequel.

The first is actress Elle Fanning, she’s starred in films like Maleficent, The Neon Demon and A Complete Unknonw.

She plays a character called Thia. Despite her human appearance, rumors suggest Thia may not be as normal as she looks – and the first Predator: Badlands trailer seems to confirm this.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed the Weyland-Yutani logo in her misted-over eyes. This is the evil company that’s often featured as the non-alien villain in most of the Alien movies.

“Two very different sisters”

Both franchises have met previously in two Alien Vs Predator films and both are owned by 20th Century Studios. This could mean that Thia is actually an android, as these synthetic humans regularly appear throughout the Alien movies.

It’s also been suggested that Fanning could play a dual role, with both of her characters having experienced a traumatic past.

Fan site AVPGalaxy shared some early details on her role. It said “one of the two main storylines delves into the intricate bond of two very different sisters, their familial ties are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions.”

Elsewhere, Trachtenberg told Empire that Fanning “faced intense challenges on this movie — dramatically, physically, logistically.”

Intreguing.

Predator: Badlands: Who plays the Predator?

The second confirmed character is the Predator itself, played by newcomer Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi.

Before starring in Trachtenberg’s latest, you may have spotted Schuster-Koloamatangi in projects like 2021’s The Panthers, 2023’s Far North or 2025’s Yaptrap although Predator: Badlands looks set to be his meatiest role yet.

His predator is called Dek and is an outcast from his clan. It’s unclear what led to this shunning but based on the newly-released trailer, we know he must team up with Thia in order to take down the “ultimate adversary.”

Could that be Thia’s human counterpart or someone new entirely?

Only time will tell.
