The incident took place in Clearfield, Utah, where the youngster drove the family car to Ogden. After a reckless driver was brought to the attention of authorities, they discovered a young child was behind the wheel.

When they managed to stop the boy and his sister, they noticed he had cash and was ready to buy a Happy Meal from McDonalds.

Speaking to ABC4, the children’s mother, Whitney Bush, said that she had no idea that her kids were missing. After waking up early to find her children asleep in bed, she went back to bed too – but was awoken by the news that her kids – and her car – were both missing.

“I absolutely had my heart in my stomach… I had no idea what was going on, I was being told different stories of what was happening,” she told the news outlet.

Bush admitted that she didn’t think “anybody wakes up in the morning or goes through their day thinking their 7-year-old is going to play ‘Grand Theft Auto’ with their vehicle.” She also added that her child had some behavioural issues.

Despite wanting to go to McDonalds, it was later discovered that the young boy and his sister passed a number of Golden Arches but didn’t manage to stop at any.

“He’s probably grounded for the rest of his life”

One silver lining to this situation was that boy the boy and his sister were wearing their seat belts.

Continuing to discuss the situation, the boy’s mother admitted that it wasn’t his finest moment and that his punishment could be long-lasting.

“I’m not proud of him by any means,” added Bush. “He’s in a world of trouble, he’s probably grounded for the rest of his life.”

While the youngster managed to avoid any charges, his Mom is making him perform community service for his neighbors as punishment for his reckless actions.
