- Seagulls sent a Liverpool secondary school into lockdown
- Notre Dame Catholic Academy was affected by the bird
- The avian situation is now under control

Seagulls caused a secondary school in Liverpool to go into Liverpool.
Notre Dame Catholic Academy in the Everton area of the English port city.
The headmistress told the Liverpool Echo, “On Friday, May 9 2025, Notre Dame Catholic Academy entered a partial lockdown after three seagulls made themselves at home in the building overnight.”
Teaching staff tried all sort of avenues and tactics to get the beach bird out the building to no luck. Drastic measures needed to be taken.
“Despite our best efforts—coaxing, persuading, and even tempting them with a tin of tuna—the birds refused to leave. Their unexpected presence caused quite a stir, as they swooped through the halls, attempting to snatch toast and bagels from our free breakfast trolley. Unfortunately, students also had to contend with seagull droppings landing uncomfortably close to their chairs,” she said.

What did the parents say about the seagulls?
One parent took to social media to express how she felt deep concern and then burst out into hysterical laughter upon finding out the reason. It does seem quite normal to be alarmed at hearing the word ‘lockdown’ when it comes to your child’s safety.
“I was worried sick, then received this off the school. I have cried laughing,” she wrote.
The message from the education establishment said the birds were causing a disturbance so therefore they needed to “put the school into a partial lockdown.”
my one pet peeve about a movie that I can never get over is how the seagulls in finding nemo are AMERICAN seagulls…..silver gulls in sydney have red beaks and feet. this is my version of the loon call that keeps me up at night pic.twitter.com/JeTrFttj38

The message continued, “I anticipate the lockdown to last a maximum of 30 minutes and all students will continue their lessons as normal (they just won’t be able to leave their classroom). We are explaining to the children what is happening.”
Much of the havoc was done to the birds being “scared” but the right steps were taken.

“The birds are scared and this is causing quite a lot of excitement and the occasional scream as they are swooping around. Pest control have arrived and this will be dealt with very shortly,” the announcement also said.
