He’s the director behind horror flicks such as The Sixth Sense, Split and The Knock at the Cabin.

But now M. Night Shyamalan is taking a step back to let a new jump-scare expert steal the show – his daughter, Ishana.

Following in her father’s footsteps, the filmmaker, 23, is the brains behind new flick The Watchers, which will hit cinemas on June 7.

Starring Dakota Fanning as artist Mina, the movie is based on the novel by A. M. Shine – who even makes a cameo in the film – and is about a group of strangers who are trapped in a forest in western Ireland, unable to leave thanks to mysterious creatures who  stalk, terrorize, and observe them each night.

Of course, Mina just has to find out more about these strange beasts – who no one has ever glimpsed and lived to tell the tale afterwards – which only angers. But when her bird, who supposedly cannot talk, suddenly pipes up with, “Try not to die”, you know the movie is set to have you on the edge of your seat, and hiding behind your hands.

Fans went wild for the trailer – that also features actors Georgina Campbell, Oliver Finnegan, and Olwen Fouéré – which dropped on April 23.

“Cant wait, looks great.. I’m curious to see if the “twist” will be Shyamalan tradition with film making. Perhaps a twist to that as well!” wrote one follower, while another added, “I literally just finished reading The Watchers, can’t wait for this.”

This isn’t the only movie Shyamalan fans have to look forward to this summer.

M. Night’s own film, Trap, will arrive on August 9, and will also feature his other daughter, Saleka.

The musician, 27, will portray the fictional pop star at the center of the movie, Lady Raven, and also wrote several original songs for the film.
