Could the biggest pop star in the world be about to join the biggest movie franchise in the world? If rumors are correct, then yes – Taylor Swift could be joining the MCU.
Rumors in the press today suggest that Swift has met with the MCU’s head Kevin Feige about joining the MCU in an undisclosed role.
Persistent rumors
But this isn’t the first time a Swift-MCU link-up has been mooted. Rumors about Swift, who is currently busy on her The Eras Tour, playing Dazzler – a singing mutant who can convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams – possibly in the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine film, have been around for some time and have been a favorite fan theory.
It does make sense – there are physical similarities between Swift and Dazzler, and, given Deadpool’s tendency towards meta humor, it would fit nicely. If it was a cameo appearance, that would also fit with her schedule.
No confirmation
With tickets for Deadpool and Wolverine now on sale, star Ryan Reynolds has been talking to Fandango about the film and did address the question of Swift playing Dazzler. He said: “You know, movies like this… there’s so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film. I saw one that was convinced that Elvis is in the movie. Anything can happen and that’s sort of what I love about this universe. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”
Well, it isn’t an admission or a denial. It might be that we just have to wait and see when the film finally drops on July 26.
