T’Challa – aka Black Panther – has faced off against many adversaries over the years, but this summer he will come face-to-face with a new threat – but one that is familiar to sci-fi horror fans.

Facing an alien threat

In a four-issue miniseries that will debut later this summer, Black Panther is set to come up against the Predators – the species of Yautja.

In the series, a group of Predators descend on Wakanda, intent on plundering the country for its Vibranium supplies.

This is not the first time that the Yautja have crossed paths with the Marvel universe. Last year, they were after Wolverine’s adamantium in Predator vs Wolverine.

In the Predator movie franchise series, the Yautja challenge other powerful species for sport or to be the ultimate predator. There have been five films in the series so far, beginning with 1987’s Predator, and Prey, a prequel to the first, the most recent, being released in 2022.

But to fight the Yautja, Black Panther will need some serious armor upgrades, which is what he gets, judging from some images from the miniseries released ahead of the series. New features include bigger and longer claws, as well as new technology and spears that glow with purple energy.

More crossovers

This is not the only extraterrestrial crossover event happening in the Marvel universe this year. The Avengers will have their hands full when they face off against the Xenomorphs of the Aliens franchise. Of course, Black Panther is also an Avenger, but whether he will appear in this series too has not been confirmed – the Avengers are known for employing squad rotation in their roster over the years.
