A producer on Gen V has revealed what will happen to the late Chance Perdomo’s character, Andre Anderson in the upcoming season two of superhero show Gen V.

Perdomo died in March this year aged 27 in a motorcycle accident just days before production on the second season of the show was set to begin. Production was immediately suspended indefinitely after Perdomo’s passing.

Irreplaceable

Soon after, it was confirmed that Perdomo’s character would not be recast in the show, but it hadn’t been confirmed how the show would deal with this in the scripts, which were being rewritten to reflect his absence.

But now executive producer Eric Kripke, in an interview with TVLine, has confirmed that Perdomo’s character will pass away on screen. “First, its just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family,” said Kripke. “We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t. We’re playing the character’s death on the show.”

Central role

Andre Anderson had a central role in the first season of Gen V. In the Prime Video series, which was a spin-off from The Boys, Anderson was a student at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Gen V followed Anderson and others as they navigated their lives, learning to harness their powers but also deal with more normal student dramas.

The character was set to play a key role in season 2 too. But now scripts have been rewritten and Andre’s death will be a key part of that.

Production on season two is now in its early stages and a release date has not yet been set.
