Hawk Tuah girl has been everywhere this past couple of weeks, but now she has reached a new level of fame – meeting Shaquille O’Neill famous.

Hawk Tuah Girl – or Hailey Welch as she’s otherwise known – for anyone who has been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, became an overnight viral sensation after appearing in a vox-pop interview by Tim & Dee TV. In answering the question ‘what’s the one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?’ she responded: “You gotta give ‘em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang.”

In case you’re not quite getting the ‘hawk tuah’ bit, it’s the onomatopoeic sound effect made in cartoons and Western spoofs where a cowboy or somesuch spits into a spittoon.

Now, she has appeared in pictures with Shaq, who’s knowing expression has taken them around the world.

But since adding hawk tuah to the popular lexicon, Hailey/Hawk Tuah Girl has been making the most of her new-found fame – because well why wouldn’t you if you get to meet basketball legends? – but also as it could be fleeting.

It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks since she went viral, but most memes and viral video stars have a shelf-life and it could be that Hawk Tuah Girl is getting to the end of hers, if the commentators on Instagram are to be believed.

Under the pic of Hawk Tuah Girl and Shaq, there was a distinct tone of cynicism and weariness. “It’s sad the people we make famous. I feel bad for our society” said one person.

Another poster summed up the mood: “It’s quite disheartening that social media often celebrates senseless content instead of praising intelligent individuals and the genuinely good things happening in our world.”

Another too a more light-hearted view, posting: “Shaq just doing side quests at this point”.
