- Huge response from gamers to opportunity to play College Football 25 three days ahead of its release
- Offer was open to those who pre-ordered the Deluxe edition of the game
- College Football 25 has been called the ‘breakout game of the year’

College Football 25 is one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year, which was further demonstrated by the huge numbers of people who played it during its early access period.
Early access
College Football 25 launched on July 19, but millions of gamers couldn’t wait that long and paid for early access. Three days of early access were part of the Deluxe Edition of the game, which cost $99.99 and was available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and 2.2 million signed up for this, according to publisher EA. In addition, 600,000 also played via the EA Play trial.
So successful was the early access, it ranked third in US daily active users on Xbox and fourth on PS5, according to Circana’s Player Engagement Tracker, as cited by Mat Piscatella on X (formerly Twitter). Mat added that College Football may be “the mass market breakout hit this console gen really needs right now.”
New features
College Football 25 has several new features, including CampusIQ, which brings to life the depth of college football through fast-paced gameplay across all 134 FBS schools in all areas of the game. there is also the new Road to the College Football Playoff and College Football Ultimate Team, as well as the return of fan-favorite modes such as Dynasty and Road To Glory.
“We’ve felt the passion and anticipation of college football fans every step of the way since we first announced this game, and we’re ecstatic to finally be able to show everyone what we’ve been building,” said Daryl Holt, SVP and Group GM, EA Sports.
