Fresh from his success directing Deadpool and Wolverine, Shawn Levy has revealed his desire to team the Merc with a Mouth up with another iconic Marvel character.

Love to make

In an interview with Total Film magazine, Levy reveals his wish to make a film that sees Deadpool (played on screen by Ryan Reynolds) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) team up.

“The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity,” Levy said. “But, boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holand would run circles around everyone else.”

As fans of Marvel comics know, Deadpool and Spider-Man have a long history of teaming up. Indeed, back in 2016, there was a 50-issue comic book series published called Spider-Man/Deadpool, which focused on action and the comedy that comes from their relationship and differing personalities.

They have also teamed up in other comics and are known to have a respect for each other.

Dreams come true?

But whether Levy’s dream will come true is another matter. Deadpool’s trilogy has concluded with Deadpool and Wolverine, which was released last month and has been a huge success, taking $879 million at the global box office at the time of writing, according to Deadline.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man’s trilogy ended in 2022 with Spider-Man: No Way Home, although speculation has increased recently that a fourth film could be in the offing when Marvel revealed that two as-yet-unnamed movies will be released in 2026. Marvel head honcho Kevin Fiege and Holland have also hinted about a script being written.

But could another Marvel crossover film happen? You never know.
