- Disney has confirmed the three films are on production schedule
- But little detail has been released about the focus of the films
- The last Star Wars film was released in 2019

The force is strong – Disney has confirmed that three Star Wars films will be released in 2026 and 2027.
In a presentation to investors, Disney confirmed the three films are on production schedule. One of the films was confirmed as The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is set to be the first of the three films released.
Little information
However, neither Disney nor LucasFilm are saying much more about the films. One of the other films set for release is thought to be New Jedi Order, but this is as yet unconfirmed.
It is thought that Disney will release more details about the films at its upcoming D23 annual fan convention this weekend – so watch this space.
Long wait
It has been five years since the last Star Wars film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released. In the interim, the focus from Disney has been on TV series, such as the hugely successful The Mandalorian – Disney+’s most-watched original series to date.
We know that The Mandalorian and Grogu will follow on from the events of the third season. Jon Favreau is in the director’s chair – he has also written the script – while Pedro Pascal will reprise his role of the bounty hunter Din Djarin. However, plotlines have, understandably, been kept under wraps so far. Information on who else is starring in the film has also been scant – although Sigourney Weaver was rumoured to be in talks over a role. Shooting for the film is believed to be starting this summer.
However, after a long wait, we can now be confident that the Star Wars universe will be back with a bang in 2026.
