It’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

But that’s not the only reason fans will be queuing up to watch the first installment of Wicked on November 22.

The musical adaptation – which has been split into two parts, with the second to be released on November 26 next year – will star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, aka The Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana Grande as Glinda The Good.

But also among the cast is Jonathan Bailey, who will play Fiyero on the big screen.

Without giving too much away, the happy-go-lucky character turns heads while at boarding school with the two lead protagonists, winning the affections of Glinda – before his attentions turn elsewhere.

British actor Bailey, 36, has become a household name worldwide in recent years, starring as the oldest sibling, Anthony, in Bridgerton, and receiving an Emmy for nomination for his role as Tim Laughlin in Fellow Travelers.

Alongside Scarlett Johansson, he is also in talks to star in the next Jurassic World movie, will feature in the award-winning Netflix series Heartstopper, and play the titular role in an adaptation of the Shakespearean play Richard II in London next year.

And while of course fans can’t wait to see the Jon M. Chu directed film as a whole, Bailey’s inclusion will certainly not harm ticket sales.
