- The song is one of Sheeran’s most well loved hits
- Sheeran had memed the song on TikTok
- Thinking Out Loud was the third single off 2014’s x album
Ed Sheeran had a very severe comeback for a fan who had severely misheard the lyrics to his huge 2014 hit Thinking Out Loud.
Taking to TikTok to post a video memeing his decade-old tune, Sheeran didn’t miss one particular comment gaining a ton of engagement, and couldn’t resist replying to it.
Sheeran’s video involved the singer/songwriter flipping the bird and storming off, with the caption “When they turn 71”, a reference to the Thinking Out Loud lyric, “And, darling, I will be loving you, ’til we’re 70”.
However, one fan replied, “I THOUGHT IT SAID 17” to which Sheeran quickly replied, “You’re on a watch list somewhere”.
The 33-year-old Grammy winner’s comment has, at the time of writing, already amassed an almighty 194,000 likes, with a huge portion of Sheeran’s 13.9m followers on the platform rating the A-Team hit maker’s comeback very highly.
Since the release of Thinking Out Loud, Sheeran has gone onto become one of the biggest selling artists of the 21st century, selling over 150m records worldwide and being named as Artist of the Decade in 2019 by the Official Charts Company. As of July of this year, Sheeran is the third most followed artist on Spotify. As of 2023, Sheeran’s net worth is reported to be somewhere in the region of £300m.
A keen fan of Ipswich Town FC, Sheeran invested in his hometown club ahead of the new Premier League season, following their promotion to the English football’s top flight in the 2023/24 season. He also sponsors the front of the Tractor Boys’ kits and attended their opening game of the season, at home to Liverpool at Portman Road.
