Special ceremony
On September 26, Batman will be given the 2,790th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The star will be given in the category of motion pictures.
There will be a special ceremony to unveil the star outside the Hollywood Guiness World Records Museum. At this ceremony, Batman will also receive a Guiness World Records title for being the first superhero to receive a star.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor our first superhero on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “Fans from around the world will be thrilled to know that Batman will have his star dedicated next to the stars of television’s Batman, Adam West, and the co-creator of Batman, Bob Kane.”
Illustrious history
Bob Kane, along with Bill Finger, created Batman for DC Comics. The character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. In the 85 years since, Batman has become one of the most recognizable superheroes, appearing in comics, in TV series and movies. While Batman has no superpowers, he does have intelligence, determination and access to a wealth of technology and weaponry.
Over the years, many actors have worn the famous cowl, from Adam West in the iconic TV series of the 1960s, through to Robert Pattinson in 2022 movie The Batman.
Recently, The Batman director Matt Reeves revealed the first few details of what to expect from the caped crusader’s next instalment, which is due for release in 2026.
