Elf, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Home Alone and… Babygirl?

While it may not be a traditional watch this Christmas, Nicole Kidman fans can look forward to watching the Aussie actor’s latest flick in theaters from December 25.

The trailer for the A24 movie has just dropped – and looks as though it promises to be one of Kidman’s steamiest films yet.

In the movie, Kidman, 57, plays a high-powered CEO who puts her career and family at risk when she begins a steamy affair with her much-younger intern, played by 28-year-old Harris Dickinson.

The cast also includes Talk to Me’s Sophie Wilde, 26, and Antonio Banderas, 64, who plays Kidman’s character’s husband.

The erotic thriller, which had its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in August, comes from writer-director Halina Reijn – and Kidman previously revealed how much she enjoys working with female directors.

She explained, “Lulu Wang is one of them, and I was like, ‘Yeah, let’s go, I’m with you’. Mimi Cave, Halina Reijn, who I just finished working with on Babygirl, and people like Susanne Bier and Karyn Kusama.

“These women are either in their prime or are in that sort of launching stage. I just love being a part of their world and their vision and being able to go, I’m here, I’ll support you.”

‘I knew Halina wouldn’t exploit me’

While a lot of Kidman’s scenes in Babygirl are risque to say the least, she has also admitted that she never felt ill at ease when shooting the movie.

“That’s what made it so compelling, was being in the hands of Halina, because I knew she wasn’t gonna exploit me,” Kidman told reporters in August. “I mean, however anyone interprets that, I didn’t feel exploited.

“I felt very much a part of it. It’s the story that I wanted to be a part of, that I wanted to tell. And every part of me was committed to that.”

She added of the cast and crew, “There was enormous care taken by all of us. We were all very, very gentle with each other and helped each other.”
