They met just over a year ago.

And now Sabrina Carpenter has given a rare insight into her relationship with Barry Keoghan.

The singer, 25, opened up about her decision to cast the Saltburn actor, 31, in the music video for her song, Please Please Please.

In the steamy clip, Keoghan can be seen robbing a woman at gunpoint, and getting thrown in and out of jail, as Carpenter waits for him.

In an interview with CBS, Carpenter revealed, “I, genuinely – like, a not-even-biased opinion – I was like, ‘Who’s the greatest actor that I can find for this music video?’ And he was next to me in a chair.

“And he was so excited about it.”

Carpenter added of her Oscar-winning beau, “He likes the song, which is great. He’s a fan of the song. He does like my music a lot, yeah.”

While it’s rare for Carpenter to open up about her private life, it’s not the first time that Carpenter has praised her talented boyfriend.

In August, the Taste singer called Keoghan “one of the best actors of this generation”.

In a chat with Variety, Carpenter said, “I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation.

“So getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special.”

A few days later, she told The Guardian that working with Keoghan was “one of the best experiences I’ve ever had”.

“I’m very honored and I got to work with such a great actor,” she said.

Keoghan clears up split rumors

Carpenter and Keoghan’s relationship has come under scrutiny in recent months.

With rumors swirling that the pair had called time on their romance, in September, Keoghan seemed to make his feelings for Carpenter clear – via the power of social media.

Despite not sharing a video to the streaming app since December 2021, eagle-eyed fans noticed that he had logged back into his account for a very important reason – to follow Carpenter.

The Coincidence singer is now the only person who Keoghan is following on the platform.

How did Carpenter and Keoghan get together?

After meeting in September last year, Carpenter and Keoghan were spotted having a romantic dinner together three months later, and made their first public appearance at W’s Grammys after-party in February.

The Oscar-nominee was later seen supporting his girlfriend as she performed at a string of festivals around the world, including Coachella – where she referenced his role in Saltburn by changing her outro to her song, Nonsense, while he looked on.

“Made his knees so weak, he had to spread mine. He’s drinkin’ my bath water like it’s red wine. Coachella, see you back here when I headline,” she sang.

The pair later attended the Met Gala together, Carpenter’s 25th birthday party, and Keoghan starred in the Please Please Please video.
