  • The Symbiote is reduced to tears by The Last Dab
  • The appearance is an advert to promote the upcoming final film in the Venom trilogy
  • A weakness to fire once again proves to be Venom’s undoing

From Paul Rudd charmingly becoming meme fodder with his “Hey, look at us” quip to Aubrey Plaza desperately snorting milk to the unbridled chaos of Shaq and Conan O’Brien’s appearances, Hot Ones has delivered a litany of unforgettable moments over the years. Now it’s being given the SSU (Sony’s Spiderman Universe) treatment.

Ahead of Venom: The Last Dance (in no way associated with Michael Jordan’s The Last Dance. Which could have been a crossover we would have wildly got behind. Everyone’s favourite symbiote landing in the Space Jam universe, getting trash talked to tears by MJ as he drops free throw after free throw? Sign us the f**k up) Sony Pictures are going balls to the wall with promo for what will be the final film in the Venom trilogy, following the 2018 original and 2021’s sequel ‘Let There Be Carnage’.

Said promo involves the hulking, monstrous alien eagerly taking on the Last Dab, while forgetting about its well renowned weakness for fire. Cue a full blown meltdown, milk chugging and table flipping, as Tom Hardy’s symbiote infested Eddie Brock loses the plot at the heat of the internet’s most notorious chicken wing.

When “cow juice” is ineffective, Venom turns to cracking a fire extinguisher for help with the Scoville scale shredding sauce. No dice there, either. The sight of a leathery, human-eating alien hollering “caliente!” is probably enough to make us want to see an entire episode dedicated to Venom fielding expertly researched questions from Sean Evans.

The Last Dance will serve as the finale to the Venom trilogy and, alongside Hardy, who plays investigative journalist Eddie Brock in the franchise, the film features Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu and Alanna Ubach in supporting roles.

Venom’s big screen solo debut in 2018 received mostly negative reviews, although 2021’s Let There Be Carnage, directed by precious loving Andy Serkis and starring Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson alongside Hardy fared a lot better critically. The franchise has so far grossed $1.36b at the box office.
