  • James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman appeared in the Weekend Update sketch as the Gallagher brothers
  • The bit has received mostly negative reviews since it aired
  • Oasis will be taking their reunion tour to North America next year

Liam Gallagher might be spending a fair amount of time Stateside next year, but don’t count on him watching any Saturday Night Live when he swaps one side of the Atlantic Ocean for the other.

The singer, along with his older brother Noel, were parodied by James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman as part of a recent Weekend Update sketch. But not only did the bit not land with the viewing audience, it was, unsurprisingly, not particularly well received by the younger Gallagher brother, either.

When a clip of the sketch was sent to Gallagher on X, the Oasis singer responded, “Are they meant to be comedians?”

During the sketch, SNL host Colin Jost asks ‘the Gallaghers’, “Everyone’s wondering, are you guys gonna be cool to tour a year from now?” to which Johnson’s Noel responds, “I’m cool if he’s cool,” followed by Sherman’s Liam replying: “I’m cool, I’m cool, I’m cooler than you are.”

Johnson then begins an impromptu rendition of ‘Wonderwall’ with the altered lyrics, “I said maybe, if Liam doesn’t act like a baby,”which prompts the two ‘brothers’ to stick their tongues out at each other and hurl some names at each other.

Oasis will return to the US as part of their reunion tour, visiting the States for the first time in over 15 years. Liam and Noel will begin their American dates with a gig at Soldier Field in Chicago on August 28th before heading East to New Jersey on the 31st. They will finish up in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl Stadium on September 6th before heading to Mexico City on the 12th. A concert at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium on August 24 will precede these dates. Oasis will be supported on all these dates by Cage The Elephant.
