NFL legend Tom Brady is to take a 5% in the Las Vegas Raiders after NFL team owners unanimously approved the move.
Excited to contribute
Brady, who won the Super Bowl seven times in his career, said he was “humbled and excited” after gaining the 32-0 approval from NFL owners. Under NFL rules, Brady required 24 votes for the move to be approved.
“Throughout my NFL career, I’ve learned that at its core, football is a game of teamwork, resilience and a relentless pursuit of excellent,” Brady said in a statement. “The Raiders franchise and the city of Las Vegas embody these same values, and I’m honored to become part of that story.
“I grew up on the field, and it’s a blessing to know I’ll be involved in the greatest league in the world for the rest of my life.
“I’m excited to contribute to the organisation in any way I can, honoring the Raiders’ rich tradition while finding every possible opportunity to improve our offering to fans. And most importantly WIN football games.”
Post-retirement
Since Brady retired for a second time in 2023, bringing down the curtain on a 23-year career, he has pursued several investments in sports teams. In the UK, he has taken a stake in soccer team Birmingham City, which play in League One, the third tier of professional soccer in England. He also has invested in the WNBA side Las Vegas Aces.
Brady has also sent time in the commentary box for Fox since his retirement, but his investment will curtail this somewhat, including not being allowed access to players, coaches or team facilities. He can commentate on Raiders games, but can’t criticise other teams or officials.
