- Obama raps Eminem hit Lose Yourself
- Jokes he wanted to perform with star
- Eminem urges Detroit to “use your voice”

Former President Barack Obama rapped Eminem‘s classic track Lose Yourself at a campaign rally for the Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in Detroit.
Taking place on Tuesday 22 October, Obama took to the stage after the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, visited his home city to remind attendees about the importance of voting and using their voice.
“I gotta say, I have done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous, but I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem,” said Obama, shortly before reciting a few lines from the star’s 2002 hit song.
“I notice my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already, mom’s spaghetti, I’m nervous but on the surface, I look calm and ready to drop bombs but I keep on forgetting.”
He then joked that he was hoping for a quick duet with the musician. “I thought Eminem was going to be performing. I was going to jump out,” he smiled. “Love me some Eminem.”
All of this back and forth was met with raucous cheers from a crowd that was clearly enjoying the moment.

“Use your voice”
Meanwhile, Eminem used his time on stage to urge Detroit voters to get out to the ballot box and to “use your voice,” all while sharing his support for current Vice President and Presidential nominee Harris.
“It’s important to use your voice, I’m encouraging everyone to get out and vote, please …
“I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution of what people will do if you make your opinion known. I think vice-president Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”
“Unchecked power”

Later in the same speech, Obama reminded audiences about the chaos that ensued following the previous election after riots took place at the United States Capitol Building on 6 July 2021 following Donald Trump’s defeat at the polls.
“Because Donald Trump was willing to spread lies about voter fraud in Michigan, protesters came down, banged on the windows, shouting, ‘Let us in. Stop the count,'” said the former Head of State.
“Poll workers inside being intimidated … all because Donald Trump couldn’t accept losing … there is absolutely no evidence that this man thinks about anybody but himself.”
Meanwhile, Trump – who is running against Harris as the Republican nominee – has been delivering his own rallies and stunts across the country ahead of Election Day on Tuesday 5 November.
Last week, the former President was seen working at a McDonalds in Pennsylvania, serving fries through the drive-through window. Speaking of the experience, Trump told the Associated Press that “it requires great expertise, actually, to do it right and to do it fast.”
