- The launch weekend of Black Ops 6 saw an astonishing 306,000 players on Steam, setting a new benchmark for the franchise.
- Despite the game’s inclusion in the Call of Duty app, the surge in Steam players suggests a strong interest in Black Ops 6 among both new and returning fans.
Record-Breaking Concurrent Engagement
COD Black Ops 6 has banged the gaming community with its weekend launch (25 October) by captivating 306,000 concurrent players on Steam, as per SteamDB. This biggest number seen in nearly two years marks a significant milestone for the franchise.
The most highlighted buzz here is that despite of game’s free availability on PC with Xbox Game Pass players chose Steam to try out the most awaited BO6, showcasing its growing popularity.
On Steam it is available for $70 while for Xbox Game Pass it costs $12 per month but in order to play it is required to keep the subscription activated. However, there are discussions regarding the Call of Duty app which doesn’t only include BO6 but also Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone.
This indicates that while 300,000 players were online, not all of them were playing Black Ops 6. Still, it attracted many new OG warriors on the battlefield. Compared to other COD launches Black Ops 6 has achieved an impressive count.
Warzone on its release had nearly 492,000 players, and Modern Warfare III had around 190,000. While Activision and Xbox haven’t shared any official numbers of players or sales it is expected that it will be unveiled soon.
In the end, it is inevitable to accept the fact that BO6 has got great attention and has drawn a large player base which may become greater with time.
