A legendary Hollywood director, known for his thrillers, is set to work on an English language version of Squid Game in 2025.

Rumors becoming more concrete

David Fincher, who has directed films such as Seven (1995), Fight Club (1999), Gone Girl (2014) and The Killer (2023), is reportedly set to commit time to making an English language version of Squid Game in 2025, according to Deadline.

There have been rumors of plans being made for an English language version of Squid Game for some months, and Fincher has been linked with it.

It was previously reported that Fincher, who has previously worked on series such as Mindhunter for Netflix, has been “quietly working” on a Squid Game remake for the past couple of years. He also has an exclusive contract with the streaming service.

But now it seems that the rumors are becoming more concrete. In addition, it has again been reported that Dennis Kelly, who has written Utopia, as well as the script for the big screen version of Matilda The Musical, is writing the script for the show.

If Fincher is devoting time to the project next year, then a release date sometime in 2026 would seem likely.

Season two incoming

However, Squid Game fans don’t have to wait that long to get a new fix of their favorite show, as season two drops on December 2026. Squid Game season two will pick up the story of the hero of season one Gi-hun’s story while following the lives of a handful of other survivors.

The last time we saw Gi-hun, he had dyed his hair red and vowed to figure out who was behind this deadly game. Season two promises to follow through on that narrative. Here is everything we know about season two.
