The upcoming Alien TV series has now been given an official title, which will come as a shock to fans but also give a hint to what the plot of the show will be.

Earthbound

The show has previously been referred to as Alien, but that was only ever a placeholder as it could be confused with the original 1979 film of the same name. But now we know it is called Alien: Earth, according to Variety.

This also gives a hint as to the plotline for the series. We already know that the series is a prequel to everything that has come before in the Alien franchise. Set in 2089, which is four years before Prometheus was set and 30 years before the events of the first film. The show will be set on Earth and will cover the emergence of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, which later worked on android intelligence, as seen in Alien and Aliens. It will also show the race between corporations to create new android life, according to showrunner Noah Hawley.

But with the show’s title, this has led to speculation that we could see the xenomorphs on Earth at some point in the series.

Cast on board

As well as being showrunner, Hawley is directing at least some of the episodes, while Ridley Scott, who directed the original film, is on board as an executive producer. Cast members announced so far include Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Adrian Edmondson and Essie Davis. Timothy Olyphant has also reportedly signed on too.

The Alien: Earth series is expected to be seen on FX some time in early 2025.
