Caught Stealing is the new film from Darren Aronofsky with leading man Austin Butler, and it has officially got a release date.
Based on the Charlie Huston book of the same name, the flick will be landing in theatres on 29 August, according to Variety.

Butler was named as the movie’s star back in March last year and some details have already emerged. Here’s everything we know about Caught Stealing so far.
Who is starring in Caught Stealing?
Along with the Oscar-nominated Butler, the film features the talents of Zoe Kravitz, Liev Schreiber, Matt King, and rapper Bad Bunny.
Vincent D’Onofrio, Action Bronson, Griffin Dunne and Matt Smith round out the cast.

What’s the plot of Caught Stealing?
As said above, the film follows the 2005 novel, the first of a trilogy, written by Huston.
Set in 1990s New York, it tells the tale of Henry ‘Hank’ Thompson, a baseball player-turned-bartender played by Butler.

The official log reads, “Burned-out ex-baseball player Hank Thompson (Butler) unexpectedly finds himself embroiled in a dangerous struggle for survival amidst the criminal underbelly of 1990s New York City, forced to navigate a treacherous underworld he never imagined.”

What’s happening behind the scenes?
Along with Aronofsky’s direction, the film is written by Huston.
Of the opportunity, the Requiem of A Dream filmmaker said that he was“excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers.”

Have they tried to adapt Caught Stealing before?
Back in 2013, Watchmen’s David Hayter tried to make it into a film with Patrick Wilson tipped for the starring role. Other names attached to the project included Alec Baldwin.

“It is a wrong-man plot worthy of Hitchcock and a brilliant adaption of the first book of the Henry Thompson trilogy. I look forward to seeing the story come to life on screen,” producer Kirk D’Amico told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.
