Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, is producing the show with the actress taking an executive producer role. Witherspoon had previously recommended the novel by Marissa Stapley on her Reese’s Book Club.

Jonathan Tropper is co-showrunner for Lucky, alongside Cassie Pappas. Tropper has also written the show and is also an exec producer. Taylor-Joy is also exec producing.

Lucky tells the story of a young woman who has left behind a life of crime that she was raised in but must return to the criminal world for one last time if she is to finally escape her past.

“Reese’s Book Club began with the goal of deepening connections – to the stories, to the storytellers and to the community we are building,” said Witherspoon. “It is incredibly rewarding to be able to amplify these female-centric stories and their authors, see our community connect with them, then see them take on a whole new life on screen. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Apple TV+.”

As yet, there are no details of who else has been cast in the show, or when it will make its debut on Apple TV+. But with the show written and castings being made, production should start some time in early-ish 2025.

Taylor-Joy’s dream role

This is the latest role Taylor-Joy has lined up, but she is still holding out for her dream role. She recently said that if Disney ever make a live-action version of their hugely successful animated franchise Frozen, she would like to take on the role of Elsa.
