• Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo formed a close friendship on the set of Wicked
  • So much so, that the co-stars celebrated by getting not one, but four matching tattoos

Ariana Grande has earned herself a slew of acting nominations for her role as Glinda in Wicked.

But that’s not the only thing that the singer, 31, took from her experience on the Jon M. Chu-directed movie musical.

Throughout their press tour to promote the film, it was pretty obvious that Grande had forged a close friendship with her co-star, Cynthia Erivo – who plays Elphaba in the film.

And now it has been revealed that the pair got not just one, not two, but four matching tattoos to mark their new relationship.

When asked how she felt getting the new inkings, Grande revealed, “It was everything, it was so much fun.

“We did our first round the week we did [Glinda’s main song] Popular. We got the first one, which is little hearts on the backs of our legs – I got an E for Elphaba, and she has a G for Galinda. And then we got our poppies that same night.”

“Cynthia and I, we have a lot now. Mine are covered with my gloves today but there are plenty.”

What are Ariana Grande and Cyntha Erivo’s other matching tattoos?

#ArianaGrande and #CynthiaErivo formed such a close bond making #WickedMovie that they now have multiple matching tattoos! The pair gave Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie a tattoo tour, and maybe convinced them to get matching ink, too. #TODAYShow

Of course, the initials are self-explanatory – but what about the other tattoos?
The ‘poppies’ that Grande mentioned – which they had drawn on the outer edges of their hands – are clearly a nod to the poppy fields in Wicked’s sequel, The Wizard of Oz.

Another of the tattoos she shares with Erivo, 38, is the word ‘For Good’ inked on their palms.

Fans of the musical will know that For Good is a heartfelt duet between the two witches  – and the official title of the second part of the movie, which will hit theaters on November 21.

On the placement of the words, Grande explained, “So when we hold hands, the words touch.” Cute.

However, the fourth and final tattoo remains a complete mystery.

During a Today Show interview, Grande teased that she and Erivo have a secret tattoo that holds a more “intense” meaning – but both actors kept schtum after that, leaving fans to speculate wildly online.

Ariana Grande isn’t the only celeb to get a tattoo for a co-star…

Erivo and Grande aren’t the only co-stars to have got tattoos in dedication to each other.

While it’s unknown if she returned the gesture, fans of Paul Mescal are convinced one of his inkings is a nod to Daisy Edgar-Jones.

The pair shot to stardom on the hit Hulu series Normal People. The actors played Connell Waldron and Marianne Sheridan in the Hulu adaptation of Sally Rooney’s bestselling novel of the same name. The story follows the pair from their school days into adulthood, as they struggle to navigate their ever-changing relationship.

Unlike their characters, Mescal and Edgar-Jones have never enjoyed a romantic relationship (that we know of!). But the pair have forged a great friendship – which has had their followers hooked for years.

According to one deepdive, the deer, which is inked on his right forearm, is a huge nod to Edgar-Jones’s character Marianne, after Connell writes to her to tell her “thoughtful face and nice sleek body” reminds him of the animal.

“It’s something to do with Normal People,” Mescal previously admitted in an interview.
