  • The tattoos have helped empower the children

A New Zealand based tattoo artist has gone viral for the work he has been doing to help children dealing with serious illnesses.

Benjamin Lloyd began giving temporary tattoos to kids at Auckland Starship Children’s Hospital in 2016 to help them feel better during their treatments.

Writing on Facebook, Lloyd said, “Nothing brings me more joy than boostin kids’ confidence with a custom tattoo. The only downside is that they don’t want to take a shower afterwards.”

The tattoos are applied using an airbrush, which will come as a huge relief to a few people in our Instagram comments who were extremely worried that Lloyd was illegally giving underage children tattoos when they were in hospital with serious illnesses.

However, most people, thankfully, realised that the tattoos were temporary and were incredibly supportive of the idea, “artist gives sick tattoos to cool kids*” one comment read, while another person added, “what a kind soul. People who do stuff like this deserve to be in the news more than celebrities.”

Another user replied, “it’s so beautiful. The happiness in the kids faces is just incredible” while another said, “Joy and delight!!! Such good medicine.”

Very, very funny to think some people were out there panicking about children in hospital being given full sleeve tattoos, though, isn’t it? Well played, Benjamin. You’ve made a lot of children very happy and brought more than a few laughs to comments sections across social media.
