Yasuke, despite being in Assassins Creed Shadows, won’t be an assassin; yes, you read it right. According to Simon Lemay-Comtois, the associate game director, this choice aligns with the game’s narrative and emphasizes Yasuke’s identity as an outsider in a Japanese-centric storyline.

Two Protagonists, Two Playstyles: Stealth vs. Samurai Combat

Ubisoft has introduced two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, who have their own playstyle; the former offers true assassin gameplay, while the latter lets players experience the world with the eye of a samurai.

These two characters with contrasting personalities accommodate players of all kinds, not compelling them to stick to one style. Lemay-Comtois stated about Yasuke in an interview with GamesRadar+ that “Yasuke is not an assassin because the narrative makes sense that he is not.

” Yasuke is unique, and he is meant to be an outsider; his story focuses on working along with Naoe not to become an assassin like her; the director said, “he works with [fellow protagonist] Naoe, but he’s not an assassin, and he doesn’t have to be.”

Yasuke has his own way of dealing with and encountering enemies, unlike Naoe, who is more stealth-focused, and this is what sets him apart from his fellow protagonist. One example is Yasuke’s attempt at the Leap of Faith, a classic Assassin’s Creed move.

While he can perform it, but not as graceful as Naoe. A Youtuber: I.Eat.Games. Shared the clip of Yasuke performing the Leap of Faith move, but he falls, highlighting his lack of skills and abilities.

Yasuke: Breaking Assassin’s Creed Traditions with a Samurai Touch

Though Yasuke’s role breaks away from franchise traditions, it’s not something unknown. Previous characters, such as Haytham Kenway from Black Flag and Barnabas from Odyssey, played pivotal roles without being assassins.

However, Yasuke has more significance in the whole narrative, and his beliefs align with Naoe’s objectives, which results in them going along with each other and working together.

Naoe is set to bring the original gaming experience that stealth fans have been craving for they missed out on in the previous games. Now recently, Ubisoft has launched the story trailer and also the PC specs including the minimum, recommended, and maximum.

The game is going to launch this year and developers are releasing the details, keeping up the excitement among the community. In the game, Yasuke proves that you don’t always have to be an assassin to be the main character, and with his distinct skill set and abilities, he lets players explore the world differently.

Players find both characters intriguing and can’t wait to try them out and play through the story.
