- Bad Bunny is desperate for a return to WWE
- The Puerto Rican phenom last performed at Backlash in 2023
- Bunny says he would risk his life in his next WWE match

There have been few celebrities who have crossed over into the world of WWE quite as naturally as Bad Bunny. And, after Royal Rumble and WrestleMania appearances, as well as a Match Of The Year candidate in his native Puerto Rico, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio is ready to do it all again. Only this time, he wants to risk it all.
Bunny first appeared in a WWE ring at WrestleMania 37, in 2021. The Puerto Rican rapper teammed with fellow Boricua Damian Priest to take on The Miz and John Morrison in a performane that dropped jaws left, right and centre and was hailed by many fans as one of the greatest celebrity in-ring displays of all time.
Not content with his flawless debut, Bunny followed it up with a showing in the following year’s men’s Royal Rumble match, eliminating season veterans Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler and getting down to the final five. Brock Lesnar saw to it that Bunny exited the match over the top rope, but another lasting impression had been left on both the WWE fans and roster alike.
So it came as no surprise that, a little over a year later, Bad Bunny vs Damian Priest (now his adversary after a WrestleMania 39 run-in with Priest’s Judgement Day stablemate Dominik Mysterio) in a San Juan streetfight was booked for Backlash in Puerto Rico. Not only was Bunny welcomed like a God in his homeland by the near 18,000 strong sellout crowd, he and Priest put forth a carnage filled 25 minute brawl that was heralded as one of the best bouts of the year.

Bad Bunny: Risking It All And Scaring Mothers
But for all the chaos that ensued in that bout with Priest, Bunny is far from done. In an interview with Rolling Stone this month, the 30-year-old revealed that he is desperate to step back between the ropes and let loose even more. Even to the point that his own mother will be scared by his antics.
“I want to do it one more time. I want to put my life at risk in the ring. I felt like I didn’t risk it enough in the ring, and I want to do it. I want to scare my mother. When? I don’t know. We stay in contact with the people at WWE, we’re always paying attention to what’s going on. But when, I don’t know. I hope there’s a time where I can really get ready, like I did the last few times. And I’d love to take more time to get ready physically.”
Despite being a beloved hero, Bunny would like to take on a villainous role for any future runs with WWE, as he explained in the same interview.
“But man, just like in music, I do this to get better and to do something different. Sometimes, I say, ‘I’m going to quit everything and just do wrestling full time.’ I feel like in wrestling, I just go sporadically as a celebrity. I’m going to go full time and be a heel. That’s what I’d love. [Laughs.] I was always a fan of the villains more than the good guys.”
In addition to his in-ring appearances in WWE, Bad Bunny has also been included as a playable character in the WWE 2K23 video game as a pre-order bonus character and performed his single ‘Booker T’ at the 2021 Royal Rumble (with the former World Heavyweight Champion himself).
Bunny is actually a former WWE 24/7 Champion, too, holding the now defunct title for 28 days (the title was presented as light entertainment and could be defended any time, anywhere) before trading it to R-Truth for some Stone Cold Steve Austin merchandise. Bunny also provided Spanish commentary for the WrestleMania 39 match between Rey and Dominik Mysterio.
