Bella Ramsey became one of the most sought-after young actors when they starred in The Last of Us. The HBO show is based on the top-selling PlayStation game, which was released in June 2013. A sequel was released in June 2020, seven years after the first game.

In the show, Ramsey, 21, plays Ellie, a teenage girl who is immune to the virus that wiped out humanity. The show, also starring Pedro Pascal, 50, as Joel, follows Joel as he escorts Ellie across a post-apocalyptic America.
For their role in the show, Ramsey was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The show premiered in January 2023, and season 2 will release on 13 April.
Season 2 will feature a five-year flash forward, which Ramsey has spoken briefly about. Recently, Ramsey also made headlines for revealing their autism diagnosis, which was prompted by a conversation they had on-set of the show.

What did Bella Ramsey say about The Last of Us Season 2?
In an interview with The Today Show on 7 April, Ramsey spoke about season 2 of The Last of Us. When asked by host Craig Melvin why people love the show, Ramsey said: “I think because it’s not really about the infected or the zombies. It’s this, like, intense and aggressive backdrop for a really intimate and emotional story.”
When playing Ellie, Ramsey says they “flip in and out of her” and the character, and they merge.
Melvin hinted that, after seeing the first episode of season 2 that Ellie can fight. In season 1, Ellie does fight the infected alongside Riley, but not as much as in season 2!
“I did two months, before we started filming, of learning how to do Brazilian jiu jitsu,” Ramsey told Melvin.
Also, to help Ramsey in her fighting scenes, she boxed and received “weapons training”.
Learning the guitar
Ramsey revealed they had already played the guitar outside of the role. In the second game, Ellie finds an old guitar that Joel gave her to learn, although she can’t play anymore.
At present, Ramsey revealed they were learning to play the drums because they are “so cool,” and they always watch the drummer at a concert.
Working with Pedro Pascal
Ramsey reflected on working with their surrogate on-screen dad, Pascal. “He is the most generous scene partner that you could ask for. He is amazing, he is as nice as he seems. He’s wonderful, it’s just a lot of fun, we laugh a lot,” Ramsey said.
When asked where they’d like to be in five years, Ramsey said they hoped they’d still be working and living in London. So wholesome!
