- Blake Lively starred in A Simple Favor and Another Simple Favor
- She played the role of Emily Nelson, a murderous mother hiding from her past
- Lively revealed she improvised one of the controversial scenes in the first movie

Blake Lively revealed it was her idea to improvise a controversial scene in A Simple Favor. The actress has been in hot water since her lawsuit with co-star Justin Baldoni. The scene improvisation may not help her case!
In the 2018 thriller, Lively plays Emily Nelson, a working mother and PR director hiding dark secrets. She starred alongside Anna Kendrick in the movie and its 2025 sequel, Another Simple Favor.

As far as the press goes, the rumors are not great. Rumors of a feud between Kendrick and Lively have plagued both movies. Director Paul Feig continuously denies the allegations, so you can decide if that’s true!
Despite bad press, A Simple Favor was a commercial success, making $97 million at the worldwide box office on a $20 million budget. In the movie, there are a lot of strange scenes, but which one did Lively improvise?
Which scene did Blake Lively improvise in A Simple Favor?

In a resurfaced comment, Lively discussed a scene where she grabbed the private parts of Henry Golding, who plays her husband in the movie.
Lively’s resurfaced comment has not aged well, since her lawsuit with Baldoni accuses him of sexually related allegations. Also, she alleges he improvised intimate scenes without consent. Additionally, she alleges that the improvised scenes were done without the presence of an intimacy coordinator.
In this case, fans thought it was hypocritical because an intimacy coordinator is not mentioned in Lively’s scene with Golding. However, it is safe to assume she had permission from Feig and Golding for the scene.
“This is one of my favorite additions that you came up with,” Feig says to Lively as she talks about the scene.
Lively responded, “That’s always awkward, and you’re like, ‘Hey, hi, nice to meet you, can I grab your nuts?”
The actress adds she did it because she felt like her character would. Emily Nelson is an assertive woman, so in theory, it makes sense.
Feig defended the actress against the backlash to her lawsuit in December 2024.

In an X post, Feig said: “I’ve now made two movies with Blake and all I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented and kind people I’ve ever worked with”.
How did the internet react to the resurfaced post?
Mixed reactions came from the internet. One user responded to the clip on X and said, “I hope she got it in writing and that Henry’s lawyers and people got that paperwork!”

Another user condemned Lively’s actions, saying Golding may not have known better. At the time, he was a relatively unknown actor until Crazy Rich Asians was released.
This was Henry’s first movie. how is he suppose to answer when a well known actress who is close to the director ask to touch his private part. This is not ok.

Another user mocked Lively and said: “Where was muh intimacy coordinator?!”

Meanwhile, one confused user wondered why Lively would say that at all, especially now she is involved in a public lawsuit.
Does she have any common sense? Who says such things?? While filling a SH lawsuit with a director?!?

Defending Blake Lively
Other commentators defended the actress.
She didn’t just ask permission. She talked about her idea with the director and the cast, and it was discussed in a directorial meeting prior to filming the scene.

Echoing a similar point, another user wrote: “Exactly, & it seems like people are conveniently leaving out the fact that BL asked for permission, & that Paul Feig praised her & Anna’s creative inputs. It’s clear that some people are more interested in spreading misinformation than in having a nuanced conversation about consent.”
