Production for the movie started in October 2024, with White shooting scenes in Springsteen’s home state of New Jersey. According to reports, filming will take place across the state, with additional scenes shot in New York and Los Angeles.

What is Deliver Me From Nowhere about?

Deliver Me From Nowhere is based on Author Warren Zanes’ book Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.

As the title suggests, it will focus on this key moment in Springsteen’s life and career and tell the story behind the creation of the musician’s iconic 1982 album.

The making of this record is something Springsteen only openly discussed decades after its release. It was recorded on a 4-track recorder in the singer’s New Jersey bedroom without the help of his now-famous E Street Band. The follow-up to 1981’s The River Tour, it’s since become one of Springsteen’s most enduring releases.

“Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,” said Cooper, speaking as production on the movie began.

“Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska’ has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me.

“Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honouring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.”

According to reports, Springsteen visited the movie’s New Jersey set. He’s also given White his blessing. “I only had to see him on The Bear, and I knew he was the right guy, because he had that interior life, but he also had a little swagger,” the singer told The Telegraph.

He’ll be joined by Succession’s Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s mentor and manager Jon Landau. British acting icon Stephen Graham will play the singer’s father Douglas, someone who Bruce had a fractious relationship with. Gaby Hoffmann will play Springsteen’s mother Adele.

Richard Jewell actor Paul Walter Hauser will play guitar tech Mike Batman, with The Staircase star Odessa Young playing a key love interest for Springsteen named Faye.

Jersey Boys star Johnny Cannizzaro will star as E Street Band guitarist Stevie Van Zandt. Comedian Marc Maron will play record producer Chuck Plotkin, with Oppenheimer’s David Krumholtz as Al Teller.

Australian actor Harrison Gilbertson is also set to star but his role remains a mystery.
