- A leak suggests Avalon might not be added to Warzone
- Verdansk could return after three years, replacing Avalon
- Avalon may still appear in the next Call of Duty game

Call of Duty fans have been waiting for the arrival of an entirely new map, Avalon but a recent leak has shattered their dream of playing in this new map, suggesting that it may not be added in the game at all.
Verdansk Returns: A Nostalgic Comeback
Avalon was expected to be a part of the game after the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but things didn’t go as planned, Activision turned their attention to a fan-favorite Warzone map: Verdansk.
If true, then this beloved map will be back after a long time of three years, still holding a special place in players’ hearts. The most nostalgic aspect is that it was the very first map, and players quickly started to like it.
However, later on, when developers added new content, it was replaced and completely removed. Verdansk holds a special place in the hearts of Warzone players. It was the first map in the game and quickly became a fan favorite before being replaced by new locations in later updates.
Now, with Warzone’s evolving landscape, Activision seems determined to bring it back, possibly with classic weapons, operators, and features that players loved. Now that the post-launch cycle of BO6 is going on, players have been looking forward to the new map as they noticed map’s glimpses in the game and were quite thrilled to jump in.
Avalon’s Fate: Delayed or Scrapped?
However, well-known leaker TheGhostOfHope recently shared that Avalon could be delayed from its expected late 2025 release—or even scrapped entirely. The leaker shared X posts stating that,
“Grain of Salt: Avalon may potentially be postponed from its original late 2025 release or completely canned for Warzone because of Verdansk’s return.”
The major reason behind this shift is that Activision developers are now focusing on reintroducing the OG map, Verdansk, and rather than bringing a new one, they are putting their efforts into a map that is already in demand.
Well, the leaker has reignited some hope for fans who really wanted to try the map, stated that it could be used in the next Call of Duty game, which may include the Outbreak, a zombie mode. Rumor says
“I say “Canned for Warzone” because it’s supposedly the Outbreak map for BO7 Zombies from my understanding.”
However, this move of keeping old maps in game is not new to the Call of Duty players and they have seen Activision making same decisions in the past. Now as it is just a rumor, fans are waiting for the official announcement to know what the developers are bringing to the table.
