Imagine if your kitty got a gold tooth when they next when to the vet after experiencing a dental issue? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Tofu the cat.

Clarisse Bosman showed off her kitty’s journey amid her tooth woes. Apparently, while she was out of town, Tofu had cracked her tooth. As the pulp was all bare to the elements, it was suggested that she get urgent dental work.

Bosman told the online outlet Newsweek,”When Tofu broke her tooth and the vet gave her real gold grills for $5,000.”

She also detailed how Tofu had previous experience causing havoc with chewing on things she wasn’t supposed to.

“This isn’t her first encounter with chewing on things she isn’t supposed to. She was previously bought to the bet after biting and chewing on one of my reeds for my instrument,” Bosman continued.

Why did they opt for a gold tooth?

Bosman explained that they went for a gold tooth for lots of “practical reasons” despite the steep price tag.

“There were a lot of practical reasons we chose, but there were concerns about jaw alignment, her diet that requires her to rip and tear food apart, and safety reasons since we take her outside on supervised walks and hikes. If she, for whatever reason, gets separated from us, we want her to have the best chance possible.”

Where was Tofu the cat adopted from?

Tofu was selected by Bosman from the Foothills Animal Shelter in Colorado town of Golden. The first ten months of the cat’s life was spent as a stray.

“We were visiting the shelter just browsing, while she was in the lost-and-found section. She caught our attention by rubbing against the cage bars, and flopping into her water bowl; that’s how she got the name Tofu, by plopping and flopping. We put a five-day hold on her while she sat in the lost and found,” she said.

“No one claimed her after the allotted five days, and we put in our application to adopt her. Since then, she has been a rambunctious member of our family for almost two years now and has a brother kitty named Skwinkle.”
