Speculations of the Witcher movie arose when CD Projekt Red (CDPR)- the acclaimed developer behind the Witcher game series – posted a job advert for an experienced writer/editor.
They are looking for someone who has expertise in writing scripts for comic books, movies, trailers, and more. The long list of qualifications also demands the ideal candidate to have “knowledge of all CD PROJEKT RED’s IPs.”
CDPR’s Job Post Hints A Movie Project
CDPR Witcher games, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel series, have gained extreme popularity since their launch, especially The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which takes the mantle of one of the “best-selling” video games, shifting over 50 million copies.
In addition to their Witcher title, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners also contributed to the developer’s ongoing success.
Exploring New Frontiers in Storytelling
This is not the first time CDPR moved beyond gaming. The successful Netflix series Witcher was released in 2019 and after its release, more content pertinent to the series expanded the story.
This includes the animated movie Nightmare of the Wolf, the live-action miniseries- The Witcher: Blood Origin, and the upcoming animated film- The Witcher: Sirens of the (February 11, 2025).
While the details remain vague, this job posting hints that the company is planning to expand its universe to the big screen, with potential movies linked to either their Witcher or Cyberpunk franchises.
