Reports have said that Ocean’s 14 is in development, with stars such as George Clooney and Brad Pitt being lined up to reprise their roles.

There have been three films in the crime caper franchise: Ocean’s 11 to 13 – plus the all-female spinoff Ocean’s 8. However, there have been no films in the main franchise since 2007.

Increasing pace

Deadline has reported that development is increasing pace on the film, and that a new director is being courted for the project. Steven Soderbergh directed the first three films, but this time Edward Berger – best known for All Quiet On The Western Front – is said to be in talks to take the director’s seat.

Meanwhile Clooney and Pitt are said to be in talks to reprise their roles from the first three films. Other members from the ensemble casts of the first three films, such as Matt Damon and Casey Affleck are also expected to return.

Clooney has previously dropped hints about a fourth film, saying last year that a script had been written and it would be set after the events of Ocean’s 13. Then, he told Uproxx that they had a “great script” but added that it would likely not be called Ocean’s 14. “I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like Going in Style.”

Busy time for Pitt

If the movie does progress, it will be another high profile project for Pitt. He is currently finishing filming the F1 movie, in which he will star as a veteran racing driver tempted back to Formula 1 to mentor a young rookie. The first trailer dropped in July.
